Northeast Domes, Fatal Attraction

Jordan, Wadi Rum
Author: Jozef Kristoffy and Vlado Linek. Climb Year: 2014. Publication Year: 2015.

Two Slovak climbers, Martin Krasnansky and Jozef Kristoffy, spent a month in the big-wall area of Wadi Rum in November and December. The goal was to establish a hard new route, and they found a line on Northeast Domes in the Jebel Rum massif. They climbed Fatal Attraction (420m, 8a+) in ground-up style, with six new pitches, including three of 7a or harder. Above the Champs-Élysées ledge, they joined Ramedame (Remy-Remy, 1986) and followed this route for another six pitches (up to 6b) to the top. They placed 11 protection bolts on the new pitches and outfitted the belays with anchor bolts.

The two Slovaks also repeated two of Jordan’s hardest long routes: Glory (5 pitches,8a+ sport, Blutrich, 2013) and Rock Empire (15 pitches, 8a, Benes-Rosecky-Sobotka, 2005).
