Sedona, New Routes

Author: From reports on Mountainproject.com . Climb Year: 2013. Publication Year: 2014.

In Sedona, Zach Harrison and Jack Snyder climbed one new route and free-climbed another. In April 2013, they free climbed the aid route Justice of the Peace (550’, A2, McDonald-Shaffer,) on Courthouse Butte. The route climbs the northwest aspect of the tower and contains six pitches of free climbing up to 5.11+. They added bolts to a variation on pitch 5, but otherwise followed the original line.

In March 2014, they established Southern Revival (560’, 5.12-) on Oak Creek Spire, after five days of effort. The route climbs a prominent corner system on the south face of the tower. They found old hardware from a previous, unknown attempt on the first two pitches, but this likely marks the first complete ascent of the line and first free ascent. The duo replaced some of the old bolts and added some others but the line is primarily gear protected.
