Bhrigupanth. A Japanese expedition led by Koji Yamakura climbed Bhri- gupanth, repeating the route first climbed in 1980 by Penny Brothers, Susan Coons and Nancey Goforth. Base Camp was established at 15,350 feet on September 3. Advance Base, Camps I and II were placed at 15,950, 18,050 and 19,525 feet on September 6, 9 and 16 respectively. They placed fixed ropes up the final south face to 21,325 feet. On September 21 Yamakura, Toshiharu Iwagaki and Sai Kimura reached the summit (6772 meters, 22,218 feet), followed on the 22nd by the other members of the expedition, Mitsuru Nakano, Yoshihiro Matsumoto and Takaharu Sasaki.
