British Columbia Mountaineering Club

Publication Year: 1971.

British Columbia Mountaineering Club. The club’s 80 odd scheduled trips this year were well attended and generally blessed by good conditions. Our ski camp to the Waddington Range ran into financial difficulties, but the main camp to Mount Robson and our expeditionary camp on the Stikine Icecap were highly successful. Members were active abroad, including in the Tilicho Lake and Hidden Valley areas of Nepal, but exploration was generally at a low ebb. Camps next year will be on Mount St. Elias and the Whitemantle Range (ski). Two cabins were erected by the club during 1970. One is at Mountain Lake near Sheer Mountain (keys must be obtained from the club) and the other at Wedgemount Lake beneath the highest summits of Garibaldi Park (open to all).
