Wyoming Hoofer Mountaineers

Publication Year: 1968.

Wisconsin Hoofer Mountaineers. During the past year the WHM were again active in midwestern climbing. Our Sunday trips to Devils Lake and other nearby climbing areas were well attended during the spring and fall. A smaller group was also active in Wisconsin throughout the summer. Included in the Sunday trips is instruction for beginning climbers who often make up the majority of members on the trips. Other instruction was given in several practice dynamic-belay sessions, a leader-training outing, and a snow-technique practice session. Our climbers were also active in areas outside the midwest during the year. Besides rock climbing trips to the Shawangunks in New York and Devil’s Tower in Wyoming, other trips were made to some of the continent’s major mountain areas. These included the Tetons, Mount Rainier, Glacier Park, Yosemite, the Cascades, and the volcanoes of Mexico.
