Urus Group, Ishinca, Ranrapalca Norte. The Swiss Arthur Schumacher, Paul Roth, Peter Lässer and Lilo Zimmermann with the Frenchman Serge Sarkissian climbed in June in the Cordillera Blanca. Roth and Schumacher made the first ascent of minor peaks in the Urus group: Uranraju (16,945 feet) on June 10, Yanaraju (17,142 feet) on June 12 and Chopiraju (16,785) on June 18. They also climbed Ishinca Chico (17,405 feet) on June 12, Ishinca (18,143 feet) with Lässer on June 19 and Ranrapalca Norte (19,948 feet) with Sarkissian on June 25, none of these previously unclimbed. (Editor’s note: None of these except for Ishinca appears on Dr. Kinzl’s map.) Fräulein Zimmermann had to be evacuated to Huaraz with pulmonary edema.
