Wisconsin Hoofers Mountaineers

Publication Year: 1962.

Wisconsin Hoofers Mountaineers. The influx of a large number of new people made for numerous and varied climbing activities in 1961. L. Fowler was a member of the group that made the first ascent of the Northeast (Pioneer) Ridge of Mount McKinley. M. Petrilak and S. Arighi with R. West as leader visited the Redfern area in northeast British Columbia to make several first ascents. A group led by S. Ong ascended Popocatepetl in Mexico in February. Successful climbs were made in the Tetons, in the Sir Donald region in the Selkirks in August, and on Devils Tower (Durrance route), Mount Hood, and Mount Rainier. Practice climbs continue to be made during the school year at Devils Lake, Wisconsin, and Seneca Rock.
