Aladaglar and Dedegol Mountains, New Routes
Turkey
In the autumn of 2020, Ukrainian climbers climbed several probable new routes in the Aladağlar and Dedegöl mountains. On the north face of Mt. Kaldı (3,734m), they climbed two routes on the same day in October: Nikita Balabanov and Slava Polezhaiko on one line, and Igor Chaplynksky, Mikhail Fomin, and Vitaly Todorenko on the other. Both teams bivouacked near the top of the wall and summited the next day; the routes were around 550m and D/TD 6a.
In November 2020, Fomin and Todorenko traveled to the Dedegöl Mountains, northeast of Antalya, and climbed a very prominent chimney line on the main massif; they saw pitons early on their route, below the main difficulties, but nothing higher. The two climbed through the night and topped out at 6 a.m., making it back to the seacoast in time for dinner with their families. They called the 600m route Turkey Never Sleeps (TD+ 6c).
