Cerro Sahne Nuss, New Route

Chile, Northern Patagonia, Aysén Region
Author: Pedro Binfa. Climb Year: 2017. Publication Year: 2018.

In November 2017, Pedro Binfa and Joan Marc Henares climbed a new route on the south face Cerro Sahne Nuss (2,237m) in Cerro Castillo National Reserve. They began by ascending snow slopes that led to the glacier that divides Cerro Palo and Sahne Nuss. Their route begins looker’s right of Las Vueltas de la Vida (Bieger-Bifna, 2015) and La Invernada (Bifna-Mascareno, 2015) [AAJ 2016] and ascends mostly steep snow with a few sections of ice and mixed terrain, including a thin 20m section of difficult-to-protect M4. Once the top was reached, they continued along the normal route to the summit. They called the climb El Camino del Arriero (360m, WI4 M4 90°).
