Katharsis

Norway, Troll Wall
Author: Marek Raganowicz. Climb Year: 2015. Publication Year: 2015.

On February 9, 2015, we completed a new route on the north face of Trollveggen (Troll Wall) in the Romsdal area. Katharsis (1,100m, 27 pitches, VI A4 M7) was climbed over 18 days (January 23–February 9), including two rest days during Hurricane Ole. We did not fix any rope. Katharsis starts with the first two pitches of the French Route then ascends directly between the Russian Route and Arch Wall to a big ledge. From here we climbed a crack (A4) leading to overhangs. We continued straight through the roofs and then rejoined the French Route to the summit ridge.

Climbing Troll Wall in a team of two was a big challenge, and we are happy the conditions allowed us to do such a beautiful, natural, and logical line with no excessive drilling. Winter conditions made this climb very hard, with much ice in the cracks.
