Author: Marcelo Scanu. Climb Year: N/A. Publication Year: 2018.

During July 2016, an Argentine team (Lucas Alzamora, Juan Guerra, and Roberto Rivas Jordan) climbed a new route up the southeast face of Negro Overo (5,780m) in La Rioja Province, a mountain first climbed by the Incas. The new route ascended a snow couloir (average 45°), with a final stretch of 55° snow.

In September 2017, Alzamora teamed up with Argentine Diego Nakamura to climb the highest virgin summit of this massif. They reached the summit (5,849m) on their second attempt by the east-southeast face (45–55° snow). The only previous recorded attempt was by the east ridge and ended 100m short of the top. These mountains are along the ridgeline to the north of Cerro General Belgrano (6,097m), high point of this range.
