REGIONAL MOUNTAIN SAFETY PROGRAMS

It is relevant to bring up reports on what some of the mountaineering clubs and related organizations in North America are doing to combat mountain accidents. Admittedly, not all climbing organizations are mentioned, because the set of replies to the Committee’s requests for this information is incomplete. It is hoped that each year hereafter a “Status Report” on the current safety programs will be obtained so that each club may be aware of what the others are doing. The various chairmen of the Safety Committees of these organizations have been asked to serve as ex officio members of the Auxiliary American Alpine Club Safety Committee, so that even more coordinated efforts can be achieved.
