Avalanche School at Alta, Utah. The primary objective of this school, under the supervision of the U.S. Forest Service, was to give training in avalanche studies: terrain analysis, climate analysis, snow studies and records, hazard forecasting, protective measures, rescues and safety plans. It also involved some training in ski mountaineering. The school was essentially for Forest Service rescue personnel and administrators and took place between 22 February and 2 March 1950.
