Traverse to the South Pole. Argentine Sebastián de la Cruz has just returned from his traverse to the South Pole from the Weddell Sea with Spaniards, which they accomplished from December 3, 1994 to January 24, 1995. The Spaniards were leader Francisco Soria, José Carlos Tamayo, Francisco Gan, Benito Molina and Pedro Esposito. They got to the Thiel Mountains on December 31; there they found their pre-planned deposit of food and fuel. The weather had been generally good with average temperatures of -20°C. From there on, they had greater difficulties and temperatures dipping to -35°.
