Gasherbrum II. Among the many groups attempting Gasherbrum II, the French commercial expedition, led by Bernard Muller and Laurence de la Ferrière, made an early ascent on June 6. During May and early June, the weather was unusually cold and only three people managed to reach the summit: Eric Guillory, Robert Caminati and Guy Chardini, all French. Meanwhile the organizers were engaged in the evacuation of two other clients who suffered severely frozen feet at the bottom of the summit pyramid. It is believed that they eventually had their feet amputated.
