Confusion Between Ohmi Kangri and Nupchu

Publication Year: 1986.

Confusion Between Ohmi Kangri and Nupchu. In 1949 a Swiss expedition made an attempt on a peak, which they called Nupchu. It is obvious that this is the same peak which is now called Ohmi Kangri. This lies at 27° 53' 52" N. and 87° 57' 51" E. In 1962 Japanese climbed a mountain which lies up the valley north of the town of Kangbachen. They called this peak Nupchu. It is not completely clear which mountain they climbed, but it would appear to be officially unnamed P 6417, which lies at 27° 52' 08" N. and 87° 59' 12" E. The name Nupchu does not appear to be an official Nepalese name.
