Asia, Nepal, Kirat Chuli Attempt

Publication Year: 1986.

Kirat Chuli Attempt. A joint British-Nepalese Army expedition was led by Major Michael Kefford and Major Gaurav S.J.B. Rana. Snowstorms depositing much new snow and later strong winds defeated their attempt to scale Nepal Peak via its south ridge and then continue on to Kirat Chuli (Tent Peak). Kefford, Kit Spencer and Nigel Williams reached a high point of 6735 meters on Nepal Peak’s south ridge on October 15. This was the first attempt on Nepal Peak since the 1939 German-Swiss attempt from Sikkim.
