The Mountaineers

Publication Year: 1967.

The Mountaineers. The Mountaineer climbing courses registered 310 basic students, the largest classes the club has yet held. In addition to a full schedule of Viewfinder, Snowshoe, and Ski climbs, there were 98 experience and intermediate climbs scheduled. A total of 74 of those climbs made the summit in spite of some unusual weather conditions which prevented the completion of many climbs. About 120 climbers graduated from the basic course, 116 are eligible to return to complete their climbs in 1967, and four climbers graduated from the intermediate course. Fifty persons participated in the summer outing in the Glacier Peak Wilderness Area of Washington. In addition, 12 climbers attended the summer climbers’ outing of the Dome Peak region. Fifty-three people registered for the Ski Mountaineering Course, consisting of four lectures and three field trips. Eleven graduated.
