Europe, Norway, Jotunheimen

Publication Year: 1959.

Jotunheimen. Between June 27 and July 9 John Humphreys, accompanied by Richard Buel and James Rogers, of the Harvard Mountaineering Club, enjoyed an unusual spell of superb weather in the Hurrungane and Smörstabbtind groups of the Western Jotunheim. Longer climbs made were a traverse of North and Middle Skagastölstind, the southeast ridge of Störe Smörstabbtind, and Störe Skagastölstind by the "Andrew’s Renne" route. This area is accessible in one day from Oslo, and is highly recommended for any who are in that part of the world and find themselves in a position to take a short climbing holiday.
