In 2023, Kyle Willis, Danny Urioste, and I climbed Salami Wand Kenobi (2,000’, 14 pitches, V 5.11- R C2; see AAJ 2024) on the Aeolian Wall of Mt. Wilson. While high on this route, we got a bird’s eye view of some crack systems on the Wind God Tower, on the right side of Aeolian, that had somehow remained unclimbed. On April 18, Danny and I finally got around to climbing that line. 

The route starts on the first five pitches of Woman of Mountain Dreams (17 pitches, V 5.11, Urioste-Uson, 1998), before splitting to the right on varnished cracks and corners to gain a small tower. A surprisingly well-protected face pitch leads to a continuous crack and another subtower. We made a short rappel off the backside of this smaller tower and climbed an amazing splitter crack that took us to the summit of the Wind God Tower. From here we joined Salami Wand Kenobi for its final two pitches, taking us directly to Mt. Wilson’s summit. 

The Wind God Tower (total of 13 pitches, V 5.11a) adds around 850 feet of independent terrain and is the easiest way to summit its namesake feature. The route follows generally solid rock and sports exposed, fun movement the whole way.
