Cerro Capicúa, Southwest Face, Raices
Chile, Northern Patagonia, Cochamó
In March 2022, Alexis Rojas and I managed to finish a route on the far right side of Cerro Capicúa, which I had started one year ago with the help of Isidora Montesinos and Benjamin Lira. In all, the route took me 11 days spread across these various trips. Our route, Raices (1,100m, 5.11+ A1), is located to the right of the lines Los Tigres del Norte (AAJ 2009) and Adios Michi Olzowy (AAJ 2006), and we approached the climb via vegetated slabs on a hill below and right of the main wall. At least half of the 26-pitch route consists of continuous cracks. We left bolts at every anchor. We did not free climb the route entirely due to lack of time; however, I did make all of the moves on pitch 12, which I expect to be 5.13a/b.
