Ama Dablam–Ombigaichen Ridge, Northeast Couloir

Nepal, Mahalangur Himal, Khumbu Section
Author: Lindsay Griffin. Climb Year: 2019. Publication Year: 2020.

While acclimatizing before unsuccessful attempts on the south face of Nuptse and south face of Lhotse Shar in the spring, Jordi Corominas and Jordi Tozas (Spain) climbed a steep ice couloir on the northeast flank of Ama Dablam's southeast ridge. This is the ridge (Georges-Hubert, 1983) that connects with Ombigaichen. The narrow couloir climbed in 2019 rises to approximately the lowest point in this ridge at around 6,000m, and between Points 6,182m and 6,185m on the HMG-Finn map. Starting from what little remains of the upper Ama Dablam (Chhukhung) Glacier on April 26, the pair climbed a steep snow slope into the obvious right-slanting couloir and followed it to the col (850m, WI4+). They descended the same way.
