Local guide Mark Klassen spearheaded the first ascent of the south ridge of Mt. Hector (3,394m), above the east side of the Icefields Parkway. Klassen noticed the stepped ridgeline while working at nearby Lake Louise ski area in the late 1980s, and he climbed the first four pitches in 2015. Over three summers, he completed the route with various partners: Apollo (10 pitches plus scrambling, 5.9). A detailed description and topo are at Tabvar.org.
