In early 2017, Pete Fasoldt and Jonathan Schaffer established a nine-pitch sport route on the northeast face of Pico Independencia, between the older routes La Norte and Directisima. “The route was bolted ground-up, sussed top-down, and subsequently sent flawlessly,” Fasoldt reported. Snail Trail (300m, 5.12) is protected mostly with bolts, supplemented by a light rack, and can be rappelled with a single 70m rope.
