A few years ago, Daniel Jeffcoach and I spotted an unnamed and apparently unclimbed formation above North Dome. The approach starts from the Road’s End parking lot, and to our surprise it took no longer than three to four hours to reach the base. With great views and great climbing, Men in Heat (1,800’, IV 5.8 R) follows perfect granite from bottom to top, consisting mostly of run-out face climbing that connects cool features. Aside from a bolted anchor, there is no other fixed hardware. It would be nice to add a few bolts to make this climb a safer outing for people uncomfortable with major runouts on 5.7 and 5.8.
