Morning Star Peak, Vegan Tower, Mile High Club

On September 12, Darin Berdinka and I completed the first ascent of the Mile High Club (700’, III 5.10a) on a striking 5,280’ subsummit of Morning Star Peak in the Headlee Pass area. The route offers seven pitches of excellent face climbing and exposure on the crest of a southwest-facing buttress, which we believe was previously unclimbed and have dubbed Vegan Tower. We cleaned and bolted the route from the top down. The route is fully bolted, but be prepared for a steep snow approach in spring, rappels on the descent, and some loose rock.
