Sikorsky Glacier, Peak 1,475m

Antarctica, Antarctic Peninsula
Author: Phil Wickens. Climb Year: 2016. Publication Year: 2016.

From December 2011 to February 2012, I led an Eagle Ski Club party to the Peninsula, where we made ascents from the Sikorsky Glacier (AAJ 2012), southeast of Cierva Cove. In the 2015-’16 season I returned to the Sikorsky with a group of Australians to attempt the last significant unclimbed peak in this region, which lies on the south side of the glacier. From a camp on the upper Sikorsky we traversed “Central Peak” (unofficial name, ca 1,300m) to reach the northwest side of our mountain, which we climbed on skis without any significant difficulty (1,475m, 64°15.372S, 60°45.147W).
