In February our section helped the International Mountain Climbing School sponsor the 21st annual Ice Fest in North Conway, New Hampshire. The Theatre in the Woods hosted Friday night’s event, where the AAC had a membership table along with a silent auction to benefit the Live Your Dream grants. In March we hosted our final annual dinner, an event originally started by prior chair Bill Atkinson almost 20 years ago. Bill’s goal was the preservation of Ken Henderson’s films of the first ascent of Pinnacle Gully on Mt. Washington and the Whitney-Gilman route on Cannon Mountain. William Clack, an audio designer and filmmaker, was the technical adviser and interviewed Ken in 2000. This was the inaugural showing of the digitized Henderson films and a fitting closure to our dinners. We also hosted two BBQs at the base of Cathedral Ledge in North Conway, in July and October. Thanks to Rick Merritt, who does an awesome job as grill-master. Once again Chad Hussey hosted our annual It Ain’t Over ’Til It’s Over cragging day at Ragged Mountain, Connecticut, in early November. Sadly, this year we were rained out, but stay tuned for next November.
