In February, Stefan Glowacz (Germany) and Chris Sharma (USA) climbed a 13-pitch route, Into the Light (8b+), out the ceiling of Majilis al Jinn. This gigantic limestone cavern is 100km southeast of Muscat and was accessed by a 160m free rappel.

Over 14 days, Glowacz and Sharma established their 300m line using mostly bolt protection. Sharma redpointed the route, with pitches ranging from 7c+ to 8b+. The pair had to wear headlamps to climb some of the pitches due to little natural light inside the cave. This climbing project, sponsored by the Red Bull beverage company, was undertaken with special permission of the Sultanate of Oman, and the completed route is not currently open to the public.
