Machu Kangri (6,086m), west of Leh, is located 8km south of the Sisir La and 12km southeast of Chomotang. In mid-June, Karl Herberger (Germany), well acclimatized and approaching over the Sisir La, made a bivouac at ca 4,700m, north of the peak. Next day, June 20, he climbed to the east ridge and continued over several tops and a foresummit to the main peak (34.0295°N, 76.7941°E GPS), which he reached at 4 p.m. He descended to the west and returned to his bivouac that night.
