La Pala (south summit), east face

La Pala (3,669m GPS), though not very high, is a very large mountain with around 1,500m of prominence. The peak is located near the fork of the Rio Claro and the Estero Godoy ravine. After having climbed to the north summit (3,647m GPS) a couple of years ago (AAJ 2012), Ricardo Hernández and I climbed to the slightly higher south summit in August. Our ascent took around 10 hours with difficulties to 70° in a nice snow and ice couloir. This route was mostly the same as on my prior climb, and both elevations were taken by GPS.
