There was a considerable increase in climbers in the Vinson Massif this season, with 207 people attempting Mt. Vinson (4,892m), and 187 of them reaching the summit.

In the Heritage Range, staff and visitors at the Adventure Network International (ANI) / Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions (ALE) camp on the Union Glacier continue to make numerous minor first ascents and new routes on the surrounding peaks. Many climbs can be done in a day from the camp and involve moderate climbing for several hundred meters on a variety of terrain. ANI keeps an updated book of routes at camp for prospective climbers to study.
