The Michigan Ice Fest continues to be the largest gathering of Midwest climbers and our section’s biggest event, with 434 participants descending upon Munising for the best ice conditions we have seen in decades. Climbers from 10 states and two countries were represented. Participants came to enjoy Midwest camaraderie and the chance to climb the beautiful ice formations at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Island. Over the weekend we signed up 42 new members for the AAC and the Access Fund, and exposed hundreds of first-timers to the sport of ice climbing.

In the fall our section hosted Climb Up 2013!, a four-day event on the south shore of Lake Superior. Members gathered to climb, socialize, and celebrate another year of adventure.
