Our first major event this year was in support of theWestern Colorado Climbers Coalition’s (WCCC) annual fund-raiser in April. The proceeds will go to possible land purchases in Unaweep Canyon, south of Grand Junction. Activities included a bouldering competition at the local climbing gym, an after-party with the band Zolopht and the Destroyers, a raffle stocked by the AAC and several gear companies, a used-gear swap, beer, and more. The event raised approximately $1,400 and included upwards of 90 participants.

Our second major event was the annual anchor replacement weekend in June at Penitente Canyon in the San Luis Valley. With approximately 25 participants, over a dozen routes were upgraded or modernized in the main canyon, with the specifics posted to Mountain Project. The group returned a week later to upgrade a few more routes. The AAC held a gear raffle, and John Strand and his wife once again generously provided the beer and BBQ.
