In addition to rock climbing outings in the Superstition Mountains, east of Phoenix, and the McDowell Mountains of Scottsdale, the Arizona Section added a canyoneering event to its list of activities. Canyoneering is very popular in the Southwest and has significant crossover appeal with climbers. We also continued to support the Forks Fest Climbing Festival, a large gathering and celebration held in Paradise Forks. Among our social events were a screening of Reel Rock films in Flagstaff and a gear swap in Phoenix in conjunction with the Arizona Mountaineering Club. One of this year’s highlights was the Arizona Section’s first Annual Holiday Dinner, held at Boulders on Broadway in Tempe.
