FALL ON ROCK, NUT PULLED OUT
Wisconsin, Devil’s Lake State Park
On August 9, 1985, a man (27) was climbing Congratulations (F9, 5.10) when he was injured in a leader fall. He took two short falls at the crux move, and both were held by a #7 stopper. He then lowered off to rest. On the next try, he succeeded, and was well above the crux placing more protection when he slipped. He fell five meters, and the #7 stopper pulled, causing him to fall another meter to the ground. A #3.5 Friend came between his wrist and posterior, which resulted in a fractured wrist.
