New Hampshire, Whitehorse Ledge

On October 26, 1985, James Baldwin (55) died of an apparent heart attack while at the belay point on the third pitch of the Standard Route on Whitehorse. He showed no signs of discomfort prior to his death. CPR was initiated immediately by Jeff Butterfield and continued for 20 minutes, until the arrival of guide George Hurley and his client, an M.D., who verified the death.
