LOSS OF CONTROL - VOLUNTARY GLISSADE

Alaska, Suicide Peak

William Parlier (36) fractured his right fibula as a result of losing control of his voluntary glissade while descending from the summit of South Suicide Peak. He was at the 1300-meter level on the east face when the accident occurred.

Members of his team ran eight kilometers to a telephone and called Chugach State Park Headquarters. Parlier was evacuated by helicopter. (Source: Dan Hou- rihan, Park Ranger, Chugach State Park)
