FALL INTO CONCEALED CREVASSE—Washington, Ruth Mountain. At 6 p.m. on July 20, James Kline (25) fell 30 feet into a crevasse. He was walking on a snow field and the crevasse was covered over with snow. The snow gave way from his body weight and he fell approximately 25 feet to a ledge. Knowing that he could not get his friend out, the victim’s partner went for help.

Kline was dressed in blue jeans and a cotton shirt at the time of the accident. If it weren’t for the fact that his partner dropped a sleeping bag to him, he would have been in more serious condition. (Source: Whatcom County Sheriff s Office.)
