Wyoming, near Green River—On December 12, 1956 Lawrence Erwin McCune (15), Franklin Hofeldt (15), and Arland Pope (15), while returning from hunting decided to climb a steep cliff in the Scott’s Bottom area. McCune persisted in the attempt after the other two had abandoned the climb. He apparently reached a point about halfway up the steep 200- foot face before he slipped and fell to his death.
