On 25 August 1950 Mrs. Eleanor Fischer suffered a broken back in a mountain climbing accident near Sugar Bowl. She was paralyzed from the waist down in a fall suffered on the south face of this peak. There were four persons in the party, including Mr. Fischer. The slip occurred on the descent above an icy 250-foot slope down which Mrs. Fischer rolled, crashing into a pine tree at the bottom. Rescue workers took her to safety, using a wicker basket, a toboggan and ropes.
