Asia, Afghanistan, Hindu Kush, Koh-e-Baba-Tangi (6,516m), Northwest Ridge and First Traverse

Koh-e-Baba-Tangi (6,516m), northwest ridge and first traverse. Sisters Christine Byrch and Pat Deavoll made the second ascent of Koh-e-Baba-Tangi (Jade Peak), the most easterly high peak in the Afghan Wakhan Corridor, by ascending a new route on the northwest ridge and descending the 1963 Italian route on the west ridge. This was completed in a seven-day roundtrip from base camp on the lower Kezghet Glacier. An account of the traverse appears earlier in the Journal.
