Half Dome, Growing Up. In July Sean Jones and Sarah Watson completed Growing Up (5.13a A0), a 21-pitch new route up the center of the largely overlooked south face of Half Dome. The route begins with the last unclimbed crack line in the Great Arch, and then face climbs the upper headwall. Jones worked the route for several months with various partners, including the prolific Doug Robinson, who made, among other great climbs, the historic first clean ascent of Half Dome’s Northwest Face route in 1973. “I liken the climbing to Astroman meets Crest Jewel, on steroids,” says Robinson.
