Mitsinjoarivo, east face. In September Sandro Borini, Paolo Stoppini, Daniele Zinetti, and I put up a new route on the east face of Mitsinjoarivo. It proved to be a magnificent route with varied climbing. We equipped all eight pitches with 8mm stainless steel bolts, plus maillon rapides at the belays. We christened our 330m route Another Tour in Merry-go-round. The crux fourth pitch is 7b+, the fifth pitch is 7b, the second and sixth 7a+, and the remaining are all 6a and above. There are obligatory 6c+ moves. From the top of the eighth pitch it is a simple 50m walk to the summit. All but Zinetti are mountain guides from Italy, and every year we trek and climb in the mountains of Madagascar and the islands off the coast of Diego Suarez.
