Baintha Brakk (a.k.a. the Ogre, 7,285m), attempts to repeat the original British Route and the South Pillar. Basque climbers Juan Mari Iraola, Chus Lizzaraga, Eduard Martinez, and Juan Vallejo attempted the second ascent of the South Pillar, only completed once to the summit, by Huber, Stöcker and Wolf in 2001. They fixed rope to 6,000m on the pillar, free climbing to VII, but were prevented from going higher by bad weather. A second Basque team, Jon Beloki, Alberto Iñurrategi and Jose Carlos Tamayo, operating at much the same time, also failed on both the original British Route (southwest face and west ridge, 1977) and the South Pillar.
