The Watchman, Cradle to Grave. In May Dave Jones and I climbed a new 10-pitch route on the northwest face of The Watchman. Our route, Cradle to Grave (V 5.1la C2), starts about 150' left of Hue & Cry. We started in a dark, somewhat hidden, left-facing corner. Chimneys and offwidths on great rock led to a squeeze section so tight that I had to remove my gear, including my harness, to get through. Higher, Dave led a short section of aid to the base of a beautiful crack with face holds. We followed this crack to the summit and a great top-out. Decent to the southwest took about an hour and a half and included three rappels.
