Thalay Sagar, northeast face, new route. Dutch climbers Mike van Berkel, Cas van de Gevel, and Melvin Redeker fixed ropes to the col below the northeast spur and then climbed a new route on the northeast face. Very steep ice smears and an overhanging band of granite climbed on aid led to the southeast ridge, up which the team reached the summit on September 23. The 800m face was thought to warrant EDI with grade 5 ice and rock to UIAA V+ and Al. A lead article appears earlier in this Journal.
