Publication Year: 2003.

Mt. St. Elias, ascent and paraglider descent. On June 16 Hamish Robertson (Australia) became the first person to paraglide from the summit of Mt. St. Elias. He flew all 18,000 vertical feet of the mountain and 21 miles horizontally to land on the shores of Icy Bay. Nic Bendelli (Austalia) and I were the other expedition members.

We were dropped at 3,500' on the Harvard Route on May 21. Bendelli and I bailed at 10,000' on the 11th. Not to be thwarted, Robertson soloed the last 8,000', including the crux 60° ice slope, then flew from the summit.
