Mt. Moran, New Route. In July, John Kelley and Jim Beyer added a new route to the south face of Mt. Moran (12,605'). The Kelley-Beyer route (VI 5.12a AO) was established in six days over two attempts. The two protagonists are responsible for roughly 75 percent of the new routes put up in the range over the last three years. A complete account of this climb, plus two other routes on the face, the South Buttress Drifter and the uncompleted Whirl of Hate, appear earlier in this journal.
