South America, Argentine Patagonia, Cerro Standhardt, Northwest Ridge, Aguja Innominata, Corallo Route, and Cerro Torre, Compressor Route

Publication Year: 2000.

Cerro Standhardt, Northwest Ridge, Aguja Innominata, Corallo Route, and Cerro Torre, Compressor Route. Timothy O’Neill and Nathan Martin climbed the Corallo Route (V 5.11) on Innominata on January 12 with Bruno Sourzac; the Northwest Ridge (V 5.11 WI5, 19 pitches) on Cerro Standhardt on February 15, a new route; and the Compressor Route (VI 5.11 WI4 Al, 28 pitches) on Cerro Torre on February 18. On both Cerro Standhardt and Cerro Torre, the two men climbed the summit mushrooms, which involved unprotectable climbing on inconsistent rime ice. A full account of their Patagonia adventures can be found in an article by O’Neill earlier in this journal.
